    Personal Information

It is a dream for every trekker to visit Everest Base Camp once in their lifetime. But an easy ride is tough to guarantee until you find a trekking agency like Karma Eco Adventure. We have been performing the 13-day Nepal EBC Trekking package for a very long time.

One of the famous packages for holidays during spring and autumn, EBC Trekking has plenty of myths. Although the EBC trek is tough to complete it isn’t impossible. Through this article, Karma Eco Adventure would like to bust the myths and wrong information on 13 days of Nepal EBC Trekking. Please stick with us.

    13-Day Nepal EBC Trekking Overview

A journey to talk and remember, 13 Days Nepal EBC Trekking is an opportunity of a lifetime. You will get the opportunity to view the tallest mountain in the world, be religiously involved in various Stupas, and Monasteries Gompas, and also be involved with the local communities.

During the first two days, we will be reaching Kathmandu, taking a flight to Lukla, and trekking to Namche Bazaar. There are acclimatization days on 3rd and 6th day as the trek can be tougher.

The overall trek is determined and based on your physical strength and mental stamina. Some of the major landmarks during the trek are Everest Base Camp, Kalapatthar (5,644 m), Dingboche (4,410 m), Tengboche Monastery (3,860 m), and various mountain peaks.

Upon reaching Namche Bazaar we will get first views of mountains. From Mt. Everest (8848.86m) to Lhotse (8,516 m), Ama Dablam (6,812 m), and Pumori (7,161 m) there are plenty of mountains to feel awe about. The highest altitude achieved during the trek is 5545m which is Kalapatthar region on the 9th day.

    How Hard is EBC Trekking?

A lot of the trekkers have stated that the EBC Trek is a moderate to tough trekking option in Nepal. But with the presence of skilled and experienced guides, the journey tends to be simple and easy to complete. What needs to be focused on is the fact that you need to be physically fit to complete this trek. We suggest to all the readers to perform some smaller treks before performing the EBC trek.

There are plenty of cases of altitude sickness and acute mountain sickness during the EBC Trek. Lack of experience in the higher altitude trekking fraternity could make things very hard for any trekker. From cardiovascular training to running and increasing stamina, you will need to be prepared 3 months before the actual trek. More than physical strength you will also need to be mental strength to complete the trek.

    Cost of EBC Trekking

The cost of 13-day EBC trekking tends to differ from person to person and group to group. The main reason for this is the quality of service you prefer during the 13 days. When the Karma Eco Adventure team is on the trail, the service seems to be the same for everyone but you have an option of luxury service during your Kathmandu stay. Meanwhile, be it the bus ride or the flight cost tends to vary.

Therefore it is very tough to predict the exact cost of EBC trekking. The best thing a reader can do is contact Karma Eco Adventure or visit our office to know more about the trek. At Karma Eco Adventure we prepare customized packages as well. This helps us to plan the right trails, trekking days, and timings for the successful completion of 13 days of EBC trekking.

Best Season to Do 13 Days EBC Trekking

When we talk about trekking in Nepal, there are some specific seasons when trekking is the most perfect ones. From the clear skies to the green environment, you will find everything falling right into place. Most importantly the best time for 13 Days EBC trekking is during the spring and autumn season. Spring falls during March to May while autumn is all about September to November.

Mainly during the autumn season, major festivals take place in Nepal and the mood of local people is also in celebration. Having said this trekking to EBC during winter and summer isn’t impossible. Some of the trekkers book even during the summer season. But changes in the weather make the journey harder. Trekkers need to have a lot of experience to complete the trek during these seasons.

Food and Accommodation During the EBC Trek

There is a vast difference in food and accommodation when we talk about Kathmandu and the trail. The time we spend in Kathmandu will be a luxury one but the time spent in the trek could be very different. Talking about the food during the EBC trek, it is all about three time meals breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Karma Eco Adventure takes special care about the hygiene and cleanliness of the food provided to its trekkers.

From Western-style food to authentic Nepali dishes like Momo, and Dal Bhaat, the foods are highly nutritious. Special attention is provided to the foods which provide higher nutrition to the trekkers. In like manner, the accommodation during this tour depends on the places we stay. You will be treated with the top-notch facility in Kathmandu. But when the actual trek starts accommodation can vary from place to place and situation.

From tea houses to hotels and basic lodges, the accommodation is the basic one. Still, hygiene and sanitation are taken major care of during your stay. Hot and cold showers clean sheets, and overall hygiene of the trekkers are a must for Karma Eco Adventure.

Is Altitude Sickness Common During EBC Trek?

One of the highly asked queries about the EBC trek is about the altitude sickness issues. There are major chances you might have signs of altitude sickness but our experienced guides will help you to fight with it. As we enter into the 4000m territory, there are plenty of trekkers who could face some mild headaches, nausea, and at times vomiting. All of that is common. Likewise, we suggest you follow the guidance provided by our expert guides.

But If You’re Trekking EBC Alone then Some Tips Could be Helpful. They are:

    • Always drink plenty of water

    • Dont focus on extra sugar but nutritious food

    • Climb to the top slowly by adjusting to the altitude

    • Give proper time for acclimatization.

    • Put a break to the habits of smoking and drinking until you return to Kathmandu.

    Permits Required for EBC Trekking

Trekking in Nepal requires permits both for safety and security purposes. Right from entering the country you will need to get permits for places you go. With an EBC trek for 13 days, trekkers will have to own 3 of the permits to trek the Base Camp.

The first is the Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) card. Secondly, you will have to own the Sagarmatha National Park entry permit. Last but not least the Khumbu Phasang Lhamu Rual Municipality Permit would also be required to complete the trek. All of these permits are available at the National Tourism Board.
