Tamang Heritage Trek is an exemplary village-to-village and culturally rich trek. This trek is more of a religious and cultural exploration trek. Tamang people are exuberant and culturally rich highland settlers of Nepal. Langtang National Park is the home of the people of this tribe. They are a handful in number, only 4,500 households in the entire region but the most primitive practices practicing Tamang in the entire Nepal. Likewise, this trek as well is short but keeps the ability to be prolonged for above 2 weeks.
Tamang Heritage Trek houses are rare for indigenous person and their communities who are the descendants of Tibetan horsemen. They fled from their homes some thousand years ago. The initial idea of the trial is to introduce tourism to the people to help them overcome poverty and joblessness.
Moreover, it was a combined effort of the local inhabitants and the Nepal Tourism Board to drive the crowd and introduce the concept of village tourism. Furthermore, the earnings of tourism have a great contribution to the village’s social-cultural development. The village then disperses the funds to make schools, health posts, or any sort of community projects.
The trek starts from Syabru Besi (1,503 m) or the comfort of Sundarijal. However, a popular trek in the destination is Syabru. The mountain ranges of Langtang (7,227 m), Ganesh (7,422 m), and Manaslu (8,156 m) serve at your homestay doorsteps. However, as mentioned before, this is more of living in a Tamang’s house. It is like walking from village to village of the Tamang and experiencing great allures. Moreover, trek like locals.
Many treks take you to the heart of the mountains but the Tamang heritage trek is the one trek that takes you to the heart of the communities of the people who inhabit these mountains.
