However, it is beyond one’s imagination. There is a great myth about Gosainkunda Lake (4,380 m). The Lake is the creation of Lord Shiva. During the excavation of the elixir, poison came out. It started to engulf the universe. Lord Shiva came to the rescue and drank all the poison.
He kept the poison on his neck. He couldn’t bear the pain and threw his trident on the rocks of Gosainkunda. Eventually, the water came out. This formed the Gosaikunda Lake. During the festival of Janai Purnima in August Hindus and Buddhists flock to the lake. Those who take a bath will have their sin relieved.
The journey is remarkable for Buddhists as well as Hindus. Therefore, it is the destination of great religious harmony and tolerance. Nepal truly is magnificent culturally and naturally too. This is the first day on the road to get to our trek destination. The choice of vehicle can differ from the package you opt to choose, ranging from a public vehicle to a private vehicle. There are two ways to reach Syabru Besi and the best way is the national highway namely Prithvi highway. The trip on a coiled highway and along one of the biggest tributaries of Trishuli takes roughly around 7 hours. Once in Syabru Besi you will unload your luggage and call it a night.
Day 04: Syabru bensi to thulo shyapru
Today is the warm-up trek day for you and you will only walk around 4 hours to gain 750 meters in elevation. You will follow the only major trail out of Syabru besi and follow the Langtang Khola until you hit the fields of Thulo Syabru. Overnight in Thulo Syabru
Day 05: Thulo Syabru to sin gompa (chandan bari)
We head out of Thulo Syabru to the village of Dursagang. From here, the trail then climbs steeply through the forest of hemlock and rhododendrons to the ridge namely Phoprang danda. There is another option as well available to Sing Gompa and depending upon the condition the route may differ. From here the trail continues in the forests and makes it through hamlets and lodges to Chandan Bari. Chandan bari is famous as Sing Gompa. where there is available local cheese factory as well. Overnight in Sing Gompa.
Day 06: Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda Lake
The trail climbs through the same forest you left behind on the previous day and soon enough you will enter the protected area of Gosainkunda. With every spur toward your destination of the day, the mountain vista becomes bigger and awe-inspiring. The trail climbs through Chalang Pati to Lauribina Yak. The views of all of Ganesh including the Paldor Peak, Manaslu, Annapurnas and several unnamed peaks are captivating. From Laurebina you will enter treeless terrain. Soon enough, the lakes start unfolding from the distance and the first ever lake that you will witness is Saraswati Kunda. It is believed that there are 108 lakes in the Gosainkunda periphery. Overnight in Gosainkunda.
Day 07: Gosainkunda to phedi
It is downhill from Gosainkunda to Phedi and your knees will be put to test. Out of Gosainkunda, the trail traverses through the pass of Laurebina and then further drops steeply to the seasonal lodges of high camp. Further down the trail, you will take the easier and less steep path to Phedi. Since the trek will last for around 3 hours you will get plenty of time to rejuvenate for the days to come. Overnight in Phedi.
Day 08: Phedi to Tharepati
Usually, people walk to Ghopte from Gosainkunda which is around 8 hours of downhill. However, we break the day into 2 as it would be too much to ask within a day from your body, adventure apart from rest and your fitness is a must. You would start downhill from Phedi until the final nerve-wracking uphill through the forest of Bamboo to Ghopte. There are high chances of seeing a lot of wildlife in this section of the trek. From Ghopte the trail drops and climbs continue and makes its way through windy and exposed ridges. Overnight in Tharepati.
Day 09: Tharepati to Gul Bhanjyang aka Golphu Bhanjyang
This is one of the most dramatic sections of the trek as you descend around 1650 meters and ascend around 250 meters on the trail. You descend from the beautiful village of Tharepati through the forest of pine intermingling with Chortens to Magin Goth. From this first village or rest area you ascend to Mere Danda and this probably is the only noticeable ascend for the day. From here, you begin descending to a ridge that offers a beautiful view of Langtang and Gosainkunda. You descend to Golphu Bhanjyang through a forest of Rhododendron and fir. Overnight in Gul Bhanjyang.
Day 10: Golphu Bhanjyang to Chisopani
It is a roller coaster ride on the trails this day. The trail drops and climbs almost 900 meters but is gentle and not as demanding as high in the mountains. Beginning from Golphu Bhanjyang the trail climbs to the Tamang village of Thotong. From here the trail first climbs through the forest of rhododendron to Lapchu Danda and then drops to Chipling and Pati Bhanjyang. The views of the mountains from Lapchu Danda as well are commendable. From Pati, the trail again climbs to Chisopani. Overnight in Chisopani.
Day 11: Chisopani to Sundarijal and drive to Kathmandu
You will begin descending from Chisapani and it almost descends to Sundarijal. Around 1100 + meters in descent can easily be down in around 2 hours as the trail descends gradually on a single track.
