One of the most beautiful and serene places around the Kathmandu valley you definitely cannot miss traveling on the Namo Buddha Tour. Namo means “Namaste”; thus the phrase Namo Buddha translates to “greetings to Buddha”. Situated on the top of a beautiful hill (1,750m), at a distance of about 40 km far from Kathmandu. This glorious place is a famed destination for hiking as well as meditation.
According to the fable Buddha, in one of his previous lives as a hunter. Once upon a day, Buddha and his two elder brothers encountered a starving tiger with her cub in the middle part of the jungle while they cross through hunting. Buddha moved lonely with compassion and offered his own flesh to save their life, Later on, his two brothers returned back to the same place as soon as they saw only bones and hairs left in Buddha’s body. For his distinction, his parents the king and queen enfolded a small wooden box with seven precious stones along with Buddha’s bones and hair. Now where we can see in that place seven parallel stupas are brightly standing.
The stupa is supposed to contain Gautam Buddha’s bones and hair. Thus the visitors used to remove their piece of hair and leave it somewhere on the tree for good luck. Moreover, this place glorifies a symbol of human sacrifice at its highest level. Namo Buddha Tour is a place of divine beauty and tranquility. Likewise, anyone who has traveled here shares a soothing sense of spirituality.
You can also visit the famous Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery where more than 250 monks reside today. The top of the hill is covered with sacred flags and offers a fine view of the Himalayas and traditional villages. Namo Buddha Tour is an ideal journey for those who love learning about new cultures and can manage a few hours of hiking.
